Return & Refund Policy

Our return policy lasts 14 days from the date you receive your book. If 14 days have gone by since you received the book, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. 

All shipping charges are non-refundable.

Digital products, such as ebooks and audiobooks, are exempt from being returned.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
Please do not automatically send your purchase back prior to contacting us.

Physical Goods (Print Books):

  • We have a 14-day return policy, starting from the date your print books arrive at your doorstep (confirmed by the status of the tracking number).
  • To be eligible for a return, your print book must be in the same condition as when you received it: unused and in its original packaging.
  • Additionally, please have the receipt or proof of purchase handy.
  • You are responsible for return shipping costs.

EU & Scandinavia 14-Day Cooling Off Period (Physical Goods):

  • For customers in the European Union and Scandinavia, there's a special 14-day cooling-off period. Within this period, you have the right to cancel or return your order for any reason without justification. Secure merchant processor fees apply.
  • To exercise this right, ensure your book is unused, in its original packaging, and accompanied by the receipt or proof of purchase.
  • You are responsible for return shipping costs. 

Digital Goods (Ebooks, Audiobooks):

  • Please note that we do not offer refunds for digital purchases, including ebooks and audiobooks, as they are instant downloads.
  • The sole exception is for duplicate purchases. If you accidentally acquire the same digital product twice, contact us within 48 hours to request a refund. Fees might apply.

Order Cancellation

  • All orders are automatically processed on our secure merchant processor and sent for production and shipment as soon as they are placed. During this process, we incur irreversible fees.
  • If you cancel your order BEFORE it has been shipped, you will be assessed a 15% cancellation fee + $1.50 processing fee.
  • If you cancel an order AFTER your order has been shipped, you will be assessed a 15% cancellation fee + $1.50 processing fee + Shipping & Handling fees.

Cancellation of Digital Goods (Ebooks and Audiobooks):

  • Preorders of Ebooks and audiobooks can be canceled within 24 hours BEFORE the indicated release date. After that, refunds are not possible. Cancelation fees might apply.

Cancellation of Physical Goods (Print Books):

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs.
  • For regular Print orders and preorders, cancellation is allowed within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund, minus cancellation fees.
  • Once the specified shipping timeframe begins, cancellations will no longer be possible, as the book is already being sent to the printer. Refunds will then follow the regular Print Books refund policy, including shipping costs, handling fees, and secure merchant processor fees.

Exchanges:

  • We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at ava[at]avamarten.com and send your item to:

Sale items

  • Only regular-priced items may be refunded. Unfortunately, sale items cannot be refunded.

Gifts

  • If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
  • If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver, and they will find out about your return.

Initiating a Return:

  • To start a return for print books, please contact us at ava[at]com. Please do not automatically send your purchase back prior to contacting us.
  • If your return is accepted, we will provide a return shipping label and detailed instructions on where and how to send your package. Items sent back to us without prior approval will not be accepted.
  • To return your product, you should mail it to Ava Marten [Martins Gomes Author], Godsetgata 20E, 3048 Drammen, Norway.
  • You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
  • If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item. 

Shipping and Return Times:

  • Please be aware that our company is located in Norway. Shipping and return times may vary depending on your location, and they could be longer due to international shipping.
  • Keep this in mind when considering return and delivery times, especially if you are located in a different part of the world. 

Refunds:

  • After we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you about the approval status of your refund. If approved, the refund will be processed automatically using your original payment method within 48h hours.
  • Please keep in mind that it might take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet:

  1. Double-check your bank account again
  2. Contact your credit card company. It may take some time before your financial institution officially posts your refund.
  3. Contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
  4. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at ava[at]avamarten.com
